This image was shot from the edge of Saddleworth with a 400 mm zoom. In the foreground lies Oldham, with Manchester in the background. Of the three tallest buildings in the background, the one on the right is the Beetham tower. From where I was standing to the Beetham tower , I would guess is about 10 miles, the use of the full 400mm has compressed that distance massively, and beyond Manchester you can clearly see the hills in the far distance, I wouldn't like to guess how far off they are.
